Jaclyn Lord is the owner of Jacqlour Boutique in Uptown Normal, IL. From sketching fashion
designs as a young girl to attending one of the nation’s best fashion merchandising programs, Jaclyn wanted to improve the typical boutique shopping experience with pieces that inspire others to be the best version of themselves. Jaclyn enjoys helping people find outfits that will be perfect for their next
upcoming event, fit how they want, or interest them in trying a new trend.
Jacqlour provides merchandise to make all women feel confident and beautiful. Jaclyn
researches the latest fashion trends and purchases from top-quality vendors to offer the most
selective styles for comfort, versatility, durability, and overall aesthetic appearance. Jaqclour’s mission is to elevate one’s wardrobe by providing fashionable merchandise at an affordable price.
When starting Jacqlour, Jaclyn faced several key challenges, including learning how to hire
employees, finding a reliable accountant to manage finances, and figuring out the best way
to divide her time to maximize productivity and ensure that all tasks were being handled
effectively.
The SBDC was able to help Jaclyn navigate challenges faced by small business owners.
Recommending employee responsibilities and interview questions, and providing lists of necessaryninsurance. The SBDC sent helpful information they believed could benefit Jacqlour, such as the QuickBooks webinar and how to improve marketing by being on WJBC radio. The SBDC also offered expertise at each step of the way and checked in to see how business was going.
At Jacqlour, they primarily use Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok as their main marketing
platforms. These channels allow them to engage with their audience, showcase their products, and create a strong brand presence online. Jacqlour’s username on all platforms is @jacqlour.
In the coming years, Jaclyn aims to strengthen Jacqlour’s online presence by creating a seamless shopping experience that bridges their brick-and-mortar store with their online store. This allows customers to enjoy a consistent and convenient shopping experience, whether they’re browsing in-store or shopping from home.
The best piece of advice that Jaclyn has been given throughout the process of running a small business is to never stop chasing her dreams, even when the journey gets tough, and one feels likegiving up. To remember that there are always resources and people to reach out to for support. Do not be afraid to ask for help because the right connections and guidance can make all the difference.
