Lynn Sands Westhoff, Ed.S.,CPA
Lynn Sands Westhoff has been a Certified Public Accountant for over 25 years and an adjunct instructor at Heartland Community College for the last 20 years. She has bachelor degrees in both Financial Accounting and Business Education from Illinois State University (ISU), a master’s degree in Accounting from ISU and a specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Eastern Illinois University.
As a CPA she worked full-time for 10 years as an internal auditor at ISU and 5 years as an external auditor at Gorenz & Associates and IAAA. She is also certified as a Chief School Business Official in the State of Illinois and spent 5 years as a secondary teacher and 7 years as a CSBO for an area school district before retiring from being a PK-12 educator in 2018.
Lynn has deep roots in Central Illinois. Her earliest years were spent on a farm near Pontiac before spending her elementary and secondary years in McLean as the daughter of an International Harvester dealer. She raised her children in rural Hopedale on a grain and livestock farm that also operated a small trucking business. Her oldest child still works as an owner/operator in the business started by his father almost 50 years ago.
As an instructor for the last 20 years, Lynn has taught Accounting, Small Business Management, Personal Finance, Taxes, and Personal Finance to adults at both Heartland Community College and Lincoln College. Small business issues have been a passion her entire adult life and she looks forward to helping small business owners in McLean County as they start and develop their businesses.
Lynn accepted the position as Business Advisor with the SBDC in August 2020.
