Angela Kuppersmith, an alumna of Illinois Wesleyan University with a degree in business administration, brings a combination of marketing, project management, servant leadership, and passion for collaboration and relationship building to the SBDC team. For the past ten years, Kuppersmith worked in a variety of marketing roles at COUNTRY Financial in Bloomington, IL where she honed project management, critical thinking, and relationship building skills in a fast-paced and customer-oriented environment.
During her time at COUNTRY Financial, Kuppersmith managed the company’s first multicultural marketing campaign, supported marketing systems, served as team lead of field marketing support and was an active member in Resource Groups. Kuppersmith is also a proud graduate of Bloomington-Normal’s Multicultural Leadership Program (MCLP), an intense professional leadership development curriculum which provides a framework for current and potential leaders to improve their servant leadership skills both professionally and in the community.
For Kuppersmith, the values of community service, shopping your values, and helping your neighbor were central to growing up in the tight-knit, rural community of Harvard, IL. These values and a desire to make a positive impact in the community only grew stronger after college when Kuppersmith bought a home, began exploring all Bloomington-Normal has to offer, and then married her husband in 2014 who is a fourth generation small business owner himself. Outside of work, Kuppersmith can be found staying active outdoors, keeping up with her young son, volunteering in the community, working on her latest DIY project, or enjoying a meal with friends.
Angela accepted the position as Assistant Director of the Illinois Small Business Development Center of McLean County at Illinois Wesleyan University in July 2019.
